Consuming Fear - Argument for Vegetarianism
 |

Ok. Both Animals and plants have emotions.
When they put sensitive electrodes or whatever on plants they can measure reaction to love, music, danger, pain etc. I remember an experiment described in the book 'The Secret Life of Plants.' They put 2 plants in a room hooked up to sensitive instruments. A man walks into the room destroys one plant, burns it or something, and the witness plant freaks out. Machine measures off the charts fear. Later they put that witness plant in a different room and different people walk into the room. When the guy who killed the plant walks into the room the witness plant freaks out. There are hundreds of different experiments that point to the same conclusion. Plants are sensitive and have emotions.
Now animals. There is no question if they have emotions. They want to live just like humans and plants do. In order to eat meat we have to terminate life. Animals, needless to say, freak out. The fear and stress of an animal about to die spreads all over its body, all over its flesh.
Humans eat plants and animal flesh and their essence becomes our essence. We are what we eat.
Now about a tomato. It is still alive when removed from the vine. It develops colour over time. It isn't stressed or in fear of being eaten. It is continuing to mature vs. shriveling up and dying.
What about an egg?
Do our fears and aggression come from eating fear?
How come the biggest animals (elephant, giraffe, horse...) are vegetarians?
Where am I going with this?
No idea.
I'm off to eat a veggie samosa from Capers.
